The practice

You don't have to be good at it. You just have to start.

Twenty minutes, twice a day.

No concentration.
No clearing your mind.
No trying to become someone else.

You simply sit, close your eyes, and let the mind settle naturally.

I'm Mike Watts, an independent Vedic Meditation teacher, musician and surfer. I teach it the way it was handed to me: simply, personally, rooted in a tradition thousands of years old.

The course

Four days. For life.

1Day one

Initiation day

Receive your personal mantra in a one-to-one initiation, rooted in a tradition passed from teacher to student for thousands of years.

2Day two

The mechanics

Direct instruction on the mechanics. The technique sharpens, the experience deepens.

3Day three

The knowledge

Where this practice comes from. Why it works. How to integrate it into daily life.

4Day four

Going deeper

The states of consciousness and deeper knowledge.

After four days of personal instruction, you'll be a self-sufficient meditator for life.

How it works

Effortless, by design.

Vedic Meditation uses a mantra: a simple sound, without meaning, chosen for you by your teacher. You don't concentrate on it. You let it come and go easily, and the mind settles into quieter levels of thinking while the body rests deeply.

That's why it suits busy minds. There's nothing to get right and nothing to force. What is Vedic Meditation? →

Who it's for

Made for busy minds.

Complete beginners

No experience needed. Most people who learn have never meditated before.

People who've tried before

Apps, breathwork or mindfulness that never quite stuck.

Busy lives

Professionals, parents, creatives and anyone short on time and rest.

Long-time meditators

Those who want to learn a traditional technique, properly, from a teacher.

Rest deeply. Live fully.

The point isn't to escape life.

It's to rest deeply enough that you can meet life fully.

More clarity. More energy. More creativity. More of yourself.

Questions

Good to know.

What's the investment?

There isn't a fixed price. Guru Dakshina is an ancient tradition of offering in recognition of what has been received. Most students contribute around one week's income, and we'll talk about it openly during your free intro call.

It includes lifetime access to global group meditations, ongoing guidance and support, and the freedom to revisit the course at any time, at no additional cost.

How long does it take to learn Vedic Meditation?

Four consecutive days of personal instruction, one session each day. By the end you're a self-sufficient meditator, with support whenever you want it.

Do I need any meditation experience?

No. Most people who learn have never meditated before, or have tried and found it hard. Experienced meditators are just as welcome.

How often should I meditate?

Twice a day, for about twenty minutes: once in the morning and once in the afternoon or early evening. On the course you'll learn how to fit it around work, family and travel.

Where can I learn Vedic Meditation in Sydney?

Courses are held in person in Bondi, in Sydney's eastern suburbs, and people come from all over Sydney to learn. Vedic Meditation in Sydney →

Is personal guidance necessary?

Like anything in life, the benefits deepen with proper instruction. This technique has been passed down in person for thousands of years, carrying with it a deep sense of intention, purity and a richness of experience that simply can't be replicated online.

I can't sit still. Will I be able to meditate?

Many people think meditation is about sitting cross-legged like a statue. During the course you'll learn how to settle the body in a natural, relaxing way that suits you.

Can anyone learn Vedic Meditation?

Absolutely. The practice suits everyone, regardless of age, background, financial wealth or belief system. It's adaptable and accessible to all.

Do I have to give up coffee or alcohol?

No. You're not being asked to give anything up. I'll simply show you how different choices can affect your meditation and your experience of rest.

Is Vedic Meditation the same as TM?

The technique taught by Michael Watts was passed down by Vedic Master Maharishi Vyasanand Giri, who received it from Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, founder of Transcendental Meditation.

Michael is an independent teacher of Vedic Meditation and isn't affiliated with any proprietary organisation.

Can you teach my staff to meditate?

Absolutely. Workplaces whose people practise Vedic Meditation begin to work more effectively as group consciousness takes greater effect. Get in touch about on-site teaching.

Is Vedic Meditation religious?

No. You don't need to subscribe to any particular religion or belief system to practise it.

The practice comes from the Vedic tradition, one of the oldest contemplative traditions in India. Veda means knowledge.

What happens after I learn?

You're supported for life: weekly group meditations in person and online, check-ins with Mike, and the freedom to revisit the course at no cost. When you're ready, there are retreats and advanced courses.
